Press Statement on the Passing of Mr. Angelo Mayot
Accra, Ghana, 28 September 2025: The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the Commission) announces with deep sorrow the passing of Mr. Angelo Mayot on 27 September 2025.
Mr. Mayot, served in the capacity of a Legal Officer at the Secretariat of the Commission in Banjul, The Gambia, from 9 December 2022, with dedication and distinction, making valuable contributions to the advancement of human and peoples’ rights in Africa. His commitment, professionalism, and sense of duty greatly enriched the work of the Commission and earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and partners.
The Commission conveys its sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Mayot, as well as to his colleagues and friends, and stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time. His exemplary service will be remembered with profound appreciation.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
