Fact-finding Mission to the Republic of Mali

The Secretariat of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the Secretariat) would like to inform the general public that a fact-finding mission will be carried out in the Republic of Mali from 03 to 07 June, 2013.  

This mission is the implementation of the decision contained in the Solemn Declaration on the situation in Mali adopted at the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU during the 19thOrdinary Session held from 15th to 16th July, 2012 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by which the Executive Council: 

« Requests the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights to open an investigation into the human rights situation in the North of Mali, including the violence perpetrated against Malian soldiers and their families in Aguel’hoc, in January 2012, and to report back with a comprehensive report containing concrete recommendations on measures to be taken»

The mission will be undertaken by a delegation of the African Commission comprising Honourable Commissioners Madam Reine Alapini Gansou, Madam Maya Sahli-Fadel, Mr. Béchir Mohamed Khalfallah and Madam Lucy Asuagbor.
