Invitation to the 1st Edition of the Pre-Session Forum of States Parties to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights

Your Excellencies,

The Secretariat of the ACHPR has the honour to inform you that the 1st Edition of the Pre-Session Forum of States Parties to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights (the Forum) will be held in Banjul, The Gambia, on 15 and 16 October 2024. 

The Forum will be convened on the margins of the 81st Ordinary Session (81st OS) of the ACHPR, scheduled to take place in Banjul from 17 October to 6 November 2024, and willbe a genuine opportunity for strengthening the ACHPR’s cooperation with the Member States and exchanging on questions of common interest in relation to the promotion and protection of human and peoples’ rights on the continent in the general, in addition to the four thematic priorities identified, namely: Statelessness, Disability Rights, Older Persons’ Rights and Social Protection and Security. 

The concept note and agenda for the Pre-Session Forum are attached for additional information.  

All delegates of State Parties attending the 81st OS are encouraged to arrive early in Banjul, The Gambia, to attend this Forum.

While due to budgetary constraints, travel and participation expenses by distinguished delegates will be borne by the participants, the ACHPR is able to cover Daily Subsistence Allowance for the two (2) days of the Forum (15 & 16 October)  for the first twenty (20) distinguished delegates that register for the Forum, in accordance with the applicable African Union Rules and Regulations.
