Banjul, 3 January 2023; The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the ACHPR) wishes to inform State Parties to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Organs of the African Union, National Human Rights Institutions, International Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations and the general public, that the 36th Extraordinary Session of the ACHPR is scheduled to take place on Monday 9 January 2023.
WHAT: The 36th Extraordinary Session of the African Commission on Human & Peoples’ Rights
WHEN: 9 January 2023
09:00 – 17:00 Hours (GMT)
VENUE: Virtual Session, Zoom Webinar
WHO: The Commissioners and the Secretariat of the ACHPR.
This Extraordinary Session will be virtual; the Commission will focus on the following:
i. Adoption of its Annual Work Plan;
ii. Consideration of Reports of the Commission;
iii. Consideration of Resolutions deferred from the 73rd Ordinary Session; and
iv. Matters arising from the Commission’s 73rd Ordinary Session
The Extraordinary Session will be private and NOT OPEN to the public
NOTE FOR EDITORS:
The ACHPR is composed of eleven Commissioners, nationals of Member States of the African Union elected in their individual capacity. The ACHPR meets 4 (four) times a year in Ordinary Sessions, which may be public or private, and may meet in Extra-Ordinary Sessions when necessary.
