The Secretariat of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the Secretariat) is pleased to inform the general public that on the occasion of the 64th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, taking place in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, the Committee for the Prevention of Torture in Africa (CPTA), launched the following documents:

  • General Comment No. 4 on the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights: The Right to Redress for Victims of Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Punishment or Treatment (Article 5) in Arabic and Portuguese;
  • Indicative Questions to State Parties in Respect of Article 5 of the African Charter; and
  • 8th Edition Africa Torture Watch Newsletter.
