On 28 December 2023, the Country Rapporteur responsible for the Human Rights Situation in the Republic of the Sudan, and the Special Rapporteur on the rights of women in Africa of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the Commission), transmitted a Joint Letter of Urgent Appeal to His Excellency Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the President of the Republic of the Sudan, regarding the escalation of violence against women in the capital Khartoum, Darfur and other regions in the Sudan.
