Call for Contribution on the Study on African responses to Migration and the Guiding Principles on the Human Rights of all Migrants

During its 68th Ordinary Session, the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights had mandated the Special Mechanism of Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Internally Displaced Persons and Migrants in Africa, Hon. Maya Sahli Fadel, to developed a Study on African responses to the question of migrantsand the protection of migrants in African as well as Guiding Principles on the Human Rights of all migrants.  By adopting Resolution ACHPR/Res. 481 (LXVIII) 2021on the Need for a Study on African Responses to Migration and the Protection of Migrants with a view to Developing Guidelines on the Human Rights of Migrants, Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

To achieve that objective, the Special Rapporteur, as entered a partnership with the International Migrants Bill of Rights (IMBR) Initiative, based at Cornell University and Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) and has formed a consortium that gave input on the conduct of the study and the development of the African Guiding Principles on the Human Rights of all Migrants. The consortium is comprised of civil society and academic partners who are interested in collaborating to support the ACHPR and its Special Rapporteur. The Study and the development of the Guiding Principles which finalization have been done by two consultants. 
As part of the consultative process and in line with the applicable best practices of the African Commission, the Special Rapporteur hereby publishes the draft Study and the Guiding Principles (available on the links below) and invites all stakeholders to provide their inputs on these two documents to the African Commission.
