On 30 November 2020, the Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and country rapporteur on the human rights situation in Nigeria; the Vice Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders and Focal Point on Reprisals in Africa; and the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information, transmitted a joint letter of urgent appeal to His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, regarding reprisals by State and non-State actors against organizers and perceived supporters of the #EndSARS protests.
