This side event to the Commission’ 69th session (Virtual), presents an opportunity to provide your inputs for a report which the Special Rapporteur on freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, Clément Voule, is preparing on the protection of human rights in the context of peaceful assemblies in crisis situations (as mandated by Human Rights Council resolution 44/20, para 29). The report will be presented to the 50th session of the Human Rights Council.

This consultation is part of regional consultations the UN SR FoAA is conducting, and aims at gaining views and (field) experiences as well as concrete recommendations from various stakeholders in the Africa region on how human rights could be better protected in the context of peaceful assemblies during different crisis situations (such as security, political, public health crisis, etc).
