Banjul, December 11, 2024 – The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) is pleased to announce that a delegation led by its Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Janet Ramatoulie Sallah-Njie, and the Executive Secretary, Mme Abiola Idowu-Ojo, has embarked on a pivotal benchmarking visit to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg, France, from December 11 to 13, 2024.
This study visit underscores the ACHPR’s commitment to enhancing its working methods and fostering strategic collaboration with international human rights institutions. Discussions will focus on key areas such as best practices in procedural handling of cases, the integration of information technology in case management, execution of judgments/decisions, quality assurance and public relations strategies.
The visit provides an invaluable platform for the ACHPR to exchange best practices with the ECHR, strengthening institutional capacity and advancing the shared mission of promoting and protecting human rights globally.
As the ACHPR continues to champion justice and the dignity of all peoples across the African continent, this visit marks an important step towards reinforcing its operational framework and fostering synergies with like-minded institutions. The ACHPR remains committed to strengthening its role as a key guardian of human and peoples’ rights on the African continent and promoting synergies with other regional and international mechanisms.
