Press Release on the Meeting of the Working Group on Extractive Industries, Environment and Human Rights Violations in Africa

The Secretariat of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the Secretariat) wishes to inform the general public that, from to 9 May 2013, it will be organizing a meeting of its Working Group on Extractive Industries, Environment and Human Rights Violations in Africa (the Working Group) in Pretoria, South Africa.

In line with its mandate to request, gather, receive and exchange information and materials from all relevant sources, the Working Group will devote two days, that is 6 to 7 May 2013, to meeting with Non-Governmental Organizations working in the field of extractive industries in South Africa, in additional to holding its annual internal meeting.  

These deliberations will be led by Honourable Commissioner Pacifique Manirakiza, Chairperson of the Working Group.
