At the request of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Government of the Republic of Faso has invited the African Commission to undertake a promotion mission to the country from the 26 th – 30 th of March 2007.
The mission will be undertaken by Commissioner Kamel Rezag Bara, member of the African Commission, responsible for human rights promotion in Burkina Faso and Chairperson of the Working Group on Indigenous Population/Communities in Africa. Commissioner Rezag Bara will be accompanied and assisted by Mr. Jules Batchono, Legal Officer at the Secretariat of the African Commission.
During the mission, Commissioner Rezag Bara will meet and hold discussions with, among others, government officials and institutions, civil society organisations, and any other individual or organisations capable of enlightening the African Commission on the human rights situation in the country.
The aim of the mission is to engage these human rights stakeholders in constructive dialogue on appropriate ways and means of enhancing the promotion and protection of human and peoples’ rights in Burkina Faso.
