Banjul, 17 June 2022; Section ix of the African Union Library Policy of 17 March 2021 encourages donation of reading materials to the general public. In this regard, the Secretariat of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights wishes to inform the general public that reading materials are being donated for your reading pleasure. A list of these books is posted here so that whoever is willing to collect them at their expense could do so, from the Secretariat offices located at plot 31 Bijilo Annex Layout, between the period 17 June – 30 July 2022.

The aim is to provide interested stakeholders with relevant information and reference services, hoping that this initiative will play a dynamic role as we aspire to remain the premier gateway to human rights information sources relating to the African continent.

The donation consists of the following thematic areas:

  • The Right to Life;
  • Cultural Rights;
  • Genocide;
  • The Right to Development;
  • Prisons;
  • Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons;
  • The Rights of the Child;
  • Women's Rights;
  • Racial Discrimination;
  • Freedom of Expression;
  • Civil and Political Rights,
  • etc.
