The Working Group on Indigenous Populations/Communities in Africa (WGIP) held its regular bi-annual meeting from 26 to 27 April 2011. During the meeting the WGIP, among others, discussed and finalized the Report of the Research and Information Visit to Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Report of the country visit to the Republic of the Congo. The reports to the Republic of the Congo and the DRC were adopted by the African Commission while the report on Kenya was referred back to the WGIP to redraft the report in line with the comments of the members of the Commission.

The two adopted reports – DRC and Congo Brazzaville - will be made available to the public after the concerned states are given the opportunity to comment on the reports in accordance with Rule 60(4) of the Rules of Procedure of the African Commission.

During its meeting the WGIP also finalized a promotional video film on indigenous peoples in Africa entitled “A Question of Justice: The Rights of Indigenous People in Africa”, which is now being widely distributed to various stakeholders in and outside of Africa.
