Press Statement on the Appointment of a New Bureau for the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights

The African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, currently in its 50th Ordinary Session in Banjul, The Gambia, wishes to inform the general public that, following elections conducted in terms of Article 42 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights, it has a new Bureau composed as follows:
Chairperson – Honourable Commissioner, Catherine Dupe Atoki. The term of office is for a period of two years, beginning 24th November 2011.
Vice-Chairperson – Honourable Commissioner Kayitesi Zainabou Sylvie. The term of office is for a period of two years, beginning on 24th November 2011.
